I am just flummoxed! How embarrassing on the anniversary of
Christians Dior’s birthday to present a collection that barely has any thread
of DNA connecting it to the eponymous designer. Mama Mia Maria has gone
back to her Valentino days and presented
more than just a bit of transparency, more than just a bit of pathetically wasted
couture abilities and in general a
collection that could pretty much be anyone’s … well anyone who possesses a modicum of talent
having just graduated design school and with no clue about reality.

My guess is that these are the clothes to be worn behind
closed doors at Middle Eastern ladies only events since most women wouldn’t be caught
dead in the stuff out in public unless you got paid to wear it or for that matter in fear of being obscenely dressed in public and branded a whore. For someone who professes to be the great feminist
can Mama Mia Maria possibly objectify women any more than with
barely covered boobies, granny panties and knee high hose… it is much more like
fetish central rather than couture. I’m sure there is some high minded blah
blah bah to accompany all this but once again unless you carry romance cards
and pass them out when wearing who cares?

Granted there are some pieces that can pass for pretty and
maybe even a couple that can pass for beautiful but in general it is a lot of
scenery and backdrop for not a lot of main attraction. Yes, the shoes are
better, yes the girls looked washed, too bad they look like they are going to
some costume epic rather than to a grand evening gala or chic dinner... and by
god .. No slogan tee shirts!!

What an immense waste of resources of couture ateliers to
produce such mediocre clothes that bear the name of probably the most valuable heritage
brand in the world….. Triste!
