In an ocean of unwearable clothes or clothes that are supposedly designed but only render shock, awe and revulsion there is Brandon Maxwell. He is the calm, the oasis, hopefully the future of what true fashion can be.

That simply means clothes that are actually meant and designed to be worn ... it is not about how much you can pile on or how much attention you can draw to yourself or looking like its Halloween ... it is about that dirty word… sales!

Maxwell offers plenty of options for plenty of women ... he designs cleanly with details that don’t jump out of you but prove that the devil is in the details! In other words it’s about nuance and simplicity and not about bells and whistles. Despite what Vogue or WWD might laud and applaud, the business of fashion is about selling clothes especially for a designer like Maxwell who has no scent; no skeighty eight licenses ... just clothes. He makes his pint and he shines among many of his peers with his possibly old school sensibility (almost Blass-ian) as to how to approach a collection.

Don’t get me wrong, there are clunkers in there, there are moments when one is not sure what season you’re looking at and then there are just some WTF but none of that matters since there is enough to bite into here for the women who actually buy clothes and don’t need or want to look like its Carnival in Rio on any given occasion.

His take on the Hermes belt is an amusing accessory and actually works quite well as it comes off as homage rather than a knock off. I approached him at the very start before the spotlight hit him… I knew then that he was one to watch! ... And I wasn’t wrong.
