Alexander McQueen SPRING 2020

So this is how you mix tradition, DNA, trend, fashion, newness and innovation to a heritage brand and create a tour de force of creativity!

Unquestionably Lee McQueen lives inside the body or brain of Sarah Burton. It is unendingly refreshing and exhilarating to see a collection that has remained in touch with its roots and has evolved since its founder’s untimely death.

This is an ultra-feminine collection with an edge. This is how you do white, this is how you mix black leather and white lace to make it look as if it’s weightless, and this is how you do beautiful dresses, sleeve treatments and razor sharp suits and then girlie ruffles to ice the cake.

It’s been a very long fashion caravan but this is so worth waiting for and puts most everyone else to shame with few and I mean with very few exceptions.

Kudos, bravo and thank you for restoring my belief that newness is still out there when actual talent exists!

Givenchy spring 2020

Thank god Monsieur Givenchy is dead!

If Tisci didn’t kill him this certainly would have.

Clare Waight Keller must be trained in creating ungainly ugly clothes that are am embarrassment to the brand and eponymous founder.

No words needed ... look at the photos be horrified hat his brand was once equated to chic, elegance sophistication and Audrey Hepburn.

Just another case of brand assassination!epburn

Valentino spring 2020

Okay so Pierpaolo seemingly removed a lot of yardage out of this collection but all he did was use the same amount of fabric without inflation. Between the ruffles, the shoulder treatments, the draping it’s all there just shifted around using softer fabrications.

The problem he suffers from is that the brand has lost its signature/identity… every so often he jumps on something then switches gears like all the helium filled concoctions of the past few seasons. Now, there a ton of white and brights and actually some beautiful pieces but if you saw them alone you’d never identify them as being Valentino. Therein lies the fly in the ointment!

The print dresses are pretty but so what, besides the price tags which are astronomical ....they are reasonably if not totally generic.  The collection is all over the place in every way... Where’s the direction, who is the customer???

Valentino was a brand that women drooled and swooned over, lusted after ... it was a brand that made sexy  clothes for rich women  and now it is for any woman who can pay the price and in particular is much  more inclined to say OH IT’S  A VALENTINO as if that matters. I mean from muumuus to baby dolls dresses and everything in between.

If there is one consistency, it can said that e clothes have a very Middle Eastern flavor overall but maybe that is the customer that he aims for or not!

Balenciaga spring 2020

Well, I finally figured it out… I am always bemoaning that collections have no signature look; well Balenciaga’s is HEINOUS CLOTHES for the fawning label hypnotized victim consumer.

This is a lost at sea, SOS, collection that is tired, over worked, a smorgasbord of absurd shapes and silhouettes but I must give credit where credit is due... the brand has a JIFFY POP dress that no one else showed, that is, unless McQueen or Chanel or Valentino come up with one.

This is collection that has no relevance to today’s way of life and as far I can see no reason to be owned unless you want to look like there is a hanger in your clothes that you neglected to remove. Everything and I mean EVERYTHING else, well maybe not the lampshade shade gowns, can be found in the back of your closet, Forever 21 or your local thrift store.

So you media and fashion mavens get out those Depends while you so called critics can write a fantasy that doesn’t exist about a collection that is supposed to be at the top of what one must own.. reviews bought and paid for by Kering.
