As off the wall as this might appear, Richard Quinn captures what the runways are supposed to evoke. The clothes, on the face, are over the top, extreme, flamboyant, extravagant, exaggerated and a whole lot of of FUN.

These are clothes that you want to see close up and you wonder what they really look like when all the eye popping details are stripped away. Clearly this man knows his way around a dress and has a vocabulary equivalent to some of the greats of the haute couture.

Quinn in one 15 minute show gave us all something to smile about and remember when fashion was full of fantasy, inspiration, aspiration and flights of fancy while never straying from the art and craft of fashion design and that is the reason I write this.

After 2 withering weeks of NYFW week where every possible freakish aspect of fashion was exhibited, where every diversity was so overly politically correct and where people who are not designers and have no concept of what fashion is all about had the opportunity to display themselves as part of a fashion freak show… Richard Quinn is the antidote or even the antichrist!

Quinn could easily be what Moschino was meant to be and beneath all the frolic of this collection there is man who understands the slick and chic of fashion…. You just have see beyond what’s in front of you.
