There’s only one problem which will never make it to print and that is in the 70s it was a brand that was so conservative that it was more about blue haired “femmes/dowagers” more than it was about college co-eds who favored J.Crew, Peck & Peck or Lord & Taylor. If I’m not mistaken in those years it was looked upon as a poor man’s/ladies actually. Hermès! “un nom, un style “which was really no style at all and certainly not a marquee brand.

Apparently Monsieur Hedi received a memo that must have read words to the effect that you better freakin deliver a collection that might have a chance of selling and not look like a knock off from your Saint Laurent days and so he delivered a somewhat highly repetitive and updated Villager/ Jonathan Logan/ John Meyer of Norwich collection that is yawn worthy at best but will probably sell but only if you want to step into the time tunnel. Peter pan collars with ruffles and stock tie blouses to wear with your box pleated skirts and a wardrobe of blazers and top coats with a cape and poncho thrown in from your college protest days.

Every so often a Hedi-ism slipped in just because old habits die hard but otherwise tweeds and hounds tooth and Hermès-esque neck scarves are not on the top of everyone’s list for fall. The all over sequin menswear blazers were a nice touch but the cropped pants below the knee are not even gauchos since gauchos were much more like a split full skirt rather that full legged pant lopped off below the knee. The only thing missing were penny loafers with knee socks and Pappagallos to complete the look. He replaced the knee sox with over the knee boots in brown of course since that was far more collegiate and preppy than black.
