In his freshman outing for the brand, Lutz Huelle has dialed down on the overly dramatic and visually emphatic and offered up a less intimidating collection than that of his predecessor Josep Font. It is interesting to see that the workmanship is still quite apparent as is the flavor of the collection but, I know this is a dirty words among the fashion media, but the clothes are more commercial and approachable without looking pedestrian or common. In other words it still looks like Depozo!

The collection is not as brashly colored as we have become accustomed to and yet it is not dull and that is because the design hasn’t suffered it is only a palette choice. The discreet embellishments remain as well s the grand gestures but again just not at the same extreme level that Font had imbued in the collection.

To my eye this is so unlike what I think of when think of Lutz and proves to me that he is a man of many talents who can accomplish a herculean feat of what appears to be a seamless transition from one of most, at lack of better phrasing, fashion forward or possibly unique collections and gently turning it to accommodate the tastes of many more women who still wish to look fashionable, if that still exists, without being looked at as a fashion victim, clown or circus freak.
