It wasn’t
long ago I penned “Is Fashion Dead?” but I got the message today …. Loud and
clear with a resounding NO ... it is very much alive chez Chanel in the hands
of the savvy Karl Lagerfeld. If you’re looking for clothes that will produce shock
and awe ... nothing to see here just keep moving…..

When fashion
brands have gone stark raving wild trying
to outdo each other with one more “more is better” outfit or one more oversized
anything hanging off the shoulder, along saunters the Kaiser… cool as can he be,
smart as a whip and mean as a snake…. Laughing
all the way!

The collection
recalls what resort (cruise) was in the glory days of fashion … it was resort wear, clothes you took on
vacation with you when you traveled to
warmer climes. So in the deafening symphony of blues Chanel delivers an
incredibly commercial collection with few bells and whistles … and oh yes plenty
of clunkers but his boo boos are still head and shoulders about what passes for
good fashion today.

There is softness,
femininity, narrow legs, full legs,
tailleurs, lots of dresses, split midriffs, Mary Janes, white hose, plenty of accessories and of
course jaunty berets all ready for that sea cruise. The clothes are effortless;
require no explanation and one might say that there is something for everyone
here.
