Giorgio Armani resort 2019

At first glance I  thought …  well this is not gonna work out well but upon further examination this is a relaxed more youthful less up tight Armani than we are used to  and yes it is all Armani.

Unquestionably it is not as precise as is expected, it is more fluid... okay I’ll say it its baggier/looser but hell it looks comfy and not as rigid as the usual seasonal offerings.

The signatures remain including the subdued palette but what has changed here is the model and the addition of trainers and flat shoes as the preferred footwear. Perhaps this collection is more about pieces/separates than usual.

While appearing to appeal only to a younger customer via the visuals …. It is so deceiving in that there is so much here that is any of his clients... the universal language and vocabulary of Giorgio Armani. This is a lesson to all designers what can be done when you add a dash of trend and not let trend take over your collection.

As ever, Armani is for a particular lady of means except this season she could conceivably be of a different generation albeit one with money to spend.

Michael Kors Collection resort 2019

The first question that comes to mind is ... "collection of what?"

One needn’t wonder why their stock isn’t preforming!

Once hailed as one of the great American designers of his generation .

Once upon a time he was akin to an updated kind of all American girl kind of clothing, perhaps an updated kind of Ralph Lauren for the “Hipper” girls around town. Always chic and somewhat minimal

Now in the quest to stay “relevant” Michael Kors has evolved to this… whatever this is! Tough to force trend via styling

To his credit... the collection does look like a resort collection but for whom?

God Bless him, thank god he is a billionaire who puts his resources to good use!

Carolina Herrera RESORT 2019

Wes Gordon has been working at Carolina Herrera for only a short time but this season he seems to have delivered another rarity within the world of fashion. The collection is almost as if it is a Henry Clarke photograph come to life.

The clothes have a slightly retro vibe yet there is nothing old fashioned about them unless you consider that real people can wear them.

Despite my personal dislike for orange, this collection uses the color to great advantage for maximum eye appeal. Rarely if ever have I said that this shade of orange is a fabulous replacement for red that takes the collection away from looking more to holiday to an absolutely resort spring like mood. The clothes are actually pretty and once again can be visualized on people rather just on an editorial page in a magazine.

Sometimes the less said, the better so suffice to say the collection is quite beautiful while not setting the world on fire and YES there is something to be said for that!!

Monse resort 2019

Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim achieved something that seems as rare as hen’s teeth in the world of fashion these days … they delivered a collection that made you SMILE ... well, it didn’t hurt that the model actually looked happy wearing the clothes!!

As  change of pace during this seemingly endless season, the team also managed to propose a collection that looks like what it is supposed to be … RESORT! Shocking as that may be, there is a travel/resort/spring like/approachable quality to the clothes. While I am not usually attracted to cut up/slice & dice /overly trendy fashion, I was oddly attracted to the grouping as a whole. Their logomania was restrained by fashion collection standards and they showed clothes that can actually be worn by human beings and not just on a printed page which is another thing that seems to be lost on so many of their peers.  The dirty word salable comes to mind!

Most appealing to me was the graphic quality and the straightforward colorations which emphasized the ease of the collection. It’s rare that I am not sure how to describe what I see but what I see I find very appealing and inviting on many levels.Imagine... clothes that don't require blah blah blah
