Dior Fall 2022 women’s

After watching this seemingly endless parade of nothingness I have come to the conclusion that “she” is a misogynist, among so many other issues that she has when it comes to designing, and I use the term loosely, clothes for women. So, were they football player protection pads or maybe life preservers, and team compression socks, laced up and boned waist cinchers or laser cut waist cinchers that looked painful?  Do I need to ask why so many pieces looked as if they were listing to the left side, ill fitted or why is there a Levi jacket in a Dior collection of any kind? Or why so many pieces look as if they are the French version of Talbots?

I would say it’s a wet dream of a collection if there was anything sexy or even arousing about it but to think you paint some leaves on a trench add a cincher and that makes it Dior is an affront to the brand and using that same idea applied to so many other generic pieces. Where did that floral taffeta come from and why? I can’t even go into her shoe fetish with those teeny, sculpted kitten heels or Doc Martinish boots. I suppose the models were made up to echo the skin tones from those Renaissance paintings that lined the walls but instead they looked like cadavers on parade. While I’m on the subject, aside from that and the last few gowns which might have been more effective in ecru rather than a blinding white especially the last exit with the inner waist support strap showing!

Given the extraordinary number of pieces there were some that weren’t bad but hell, okay that’s not good enough here as they need to be stellar. Unquestionably there will be esoteric blather on the part of designer who will once again explain her inspirations for the collection and the double eyes on all surrounding art. It just boggles my mind that no one gives a crap about the heritage and glory that was once Christian Dior!

Dior couture spring 2022

Let’s call it 60 shades of bland and boring! My take is simply that this was supposed to be salable and covetable and yes it was salable, more so than her ready to wear, but there is more at stake here than ready to wear.

What was the message here? What is she trying to convey with endless white and shades of beige with occasional accents of grey and black? I saw Katherine Graham’s dress from Capote’s black and white ball offered in beige or off white, I saw that minimalism chez Dior equates to boring and yawn worthy, I saw Jackie Kennedy looks that are so out of step with world today and a designer who hasn’t a clue what she or the brand stand for!

Once again, the Signora’s idea of sexy is transparent and yet she makes it bland, then of course the styling with kitten/louis’ heels on young girls instead of women and a paucity of make up all piled onto some ridiculous notion that these clothes reflect the DNA of Maison Dior.

I couldn’t wait to read the review for her to explain in her esoteric and faux intellectual word salad about how and why we should view the relationship with primitive cave like paintings and the clothes that were shown ... other than the fact that her crusade for feminism has been abandoned and she is searching for any raison d’être!

Let’s just say there is absolutely nothing here to really speak of other than why bother to present 60 generic tired looks? Let me say the final exit of the model with a wedgie was a perfect ending!

DIOR pre fall 2022

Every season I am amazed at how this woman interprets what she finds in the Dior archive; the extrapolation of product vs. her words is inconceivable. Okay, so I get the uniform thing, so then explain to me where galoshes and louis heeled high tops come into play with Greek sandal wrappings!

We went from Olympians to waitresses to parochial school uniforms to bra tops and puffers. You read her inspirations and you look at the clothes and undoubtedly you shake your head and think WTF is she talking about!

Mediocre, repetitive and joyless clothes, at best, with a story that makes no sense at stratospheric prices...it’s an oxymoron!

So, an almost 70 look collection boiled down to maybe here and there are some wearable pieces but why would anyone need to buy them from Dior. I can’t even say it’s an H&M collection or a Zara as its basically boring and a nonsensical pile of basics from a storied house that was once known for originality, fantasy and glamour. Where is that .... not here!!

If   I really had to explain it, maybe I’d call it fetish wear... the school girl experience ala Jeffrey Epstein and certainly not the what I think of when I think of   the pillars of feminism in the form of Gloria Steinem and Betty Friedan.

... and so that concludes still one more episode of The Emperor’s New Clothes by Signora Chiuri!

PS...  now the logo tote looks like The Big Brown Bag from Bloomingdales!

Dior couture fall 2021

Last I heard there aren’t any women who want to spend 10s of 1000s of dollars to look fat or thick around the waist but Maria (as I have been scolded for calling her the meatball) defies these women and presents a collection of tortured heavy-handed tweeds, suits that look like they can stand up by themselves and clothes that are generally ill proportioned at best.

Case in point is where is a waistline ... you would be hard pressed to find a specific area of the torso judging by this collection. Also last I heard; women of a certain age also suffer from flashes... imagine trying to tear those clothes off of yourself mid flash.

Of course, Maria must have a footwear fetish as she just never gets it right. not many women of any age that do wear gowns or couture don’t generally opt for thick soled oxfords or doc martens, yet that’s to be expected from a designer where brand comes before fashion especially when it comes to brand DNA and elegance. Can someone explain to me about the head wear that 70s Carnaby street “bobby’s” hat?

The collection is repetitious in the extreme and when it strays, it strays so far afield that one must wonder why in the world she chose that Orientalist print to meld with all that tweed and chiffon.

My takes away is you sweat your ass off for day and get near nude boudoir looks for evening at prices that could feed a small 3rd world country.

Last thought, in her final bow, hahahahhahhahha, her sailor pants are low slung (waist location) and incorrectly worn while everything in the collection is uptight and tweed.

Dior fall 2021

Well, I’m sort of speechless and astounded to say there were a few pretty pieces and lots of mediocre and then of course there were the usual hideous things that make you shake your head and ask why?

Somewhere between Mrs. Maisel, I Love Lucy, some sapphic undertones and a school girl or waitress fetish, Maria actually turned out some wearable clothes albeit they are just clothes ... generic, no particular point of view and all over the place ... which all of that is hardly surprising but worst of all is that the collection looks dreary and tired. Where is the Dior DNA?

I can’t get past that black laser cut leather pinafore and a few outfits that look like waitress uniforms or the little girl dresses that would make a woman of a certain age look like she was trying to relive her Shirley Temple stage and mom jeans. The gowns are really more superfluous than ever as they range from down and out ugly, tired and amateurish to one simple basic black.

The palette is far better than ever before but what exactly is she saying with a collection like this? There is one egg shaped plaid outfit that makes you flinch since the model looks pregnant and then we have the Chiuri penchant for some of the ugliest shoes on the runway but that seems to be a trend this season.

In a season when some would think that comfort and ease are key, here we have a plethora of rigidly tailored suits and jackets, trapper hats, kerchiefs tied ala Audrey Hepburn and vinyl patent looking bomber jackets that look like they fell right out of a 70s Macy’s catalog.... what is she thinking?

I guess the bottom line is she eked out a D instead of an epic fail and she just can’t get past her predilection for sheer and so I ask again ... what’s the message here!!!

DIOR COUTURE SPRING 2021

As is the wont of madame meatball, once again we are treated to some delusional interpretation of Maison Christian Dior meaning we are long on blah blah blah and very short on design and the DNA of the house.

Honestly, I don’t think she possibly could have created a collection that is more tone deaf and out of the realm of reality than this “fairy tale.”  The over-the-top film, admittedly, is quite beautiful with a sapphic touch, but without all the rhetoric that I’m sure accompanies these clothes one has to ask … WTF are you thinking? …. where’s the feminist manifesto or maybe the message is free to be you and me?

Couture has and I guess will always be a sort of fantasy or aspiration for so many but there isn’t much to lust for and covet here as the clothes are ...well, just generic clothes... flowy gowns, oh we did add toreador pants, but for the most part they are wildly expensive bland clothes that can bear any label.

Do you suppose that this so-called designer has the inside line on the pandemic and yes, I know that couture is not about real life or for that matter reality but honestly what is there in this collection that one lusts and covets other than the workmanship?

Aside from the lack of design... what looks fresh and new, what warrants 5 figure price tags and saddest of all is what warrants or deserves the honor of carrying the Dior label?

Dior pre-fall 2021

In response to the current times when designers and clients speak of buying” comfort clothes,” quite literally and figuratively the meatball decided that these are her take on comfort clothes. Well, I’d like to see her, actually no I wouldn’t, in that silver skirt or sprayed on second skin jeans and tell me that she feels comfort in reliving her past thru those clothes!!

Maria Grazia Chiuri says “I want a leopard coat!” The Christian Dior designer was in high spirits, illustrating the objective she set herself with her most animated collection to date. “Now, we desire something that gives us energy. Something completely different,” as she put it.  EXCEPT IT’S NOT DIFFERENT!

I would like to come back to the fashion that started my career: the playfulness that attracted me and my generation to fashion, and transform the Dior codes through this attitude.” For Chiuri—a child of the 1970s—those roads had to lead to Elio Fiorucci. I guess the logo is the code!

And these images tell you one thing... she has gone back to her roots without the slightest concept that Fiorucci was for the young at a price that the young could afford so here we have the absolute worst iteration of that by showing teeny bopper clothes that retail in the thousands of dollars produced under the auspices of one of the greatest heritage brands of fashion.

The woman is clearly in possession of a faulty thought process and as you can see hasn’t had an original idea in her entire life other than maybe at Fiorucci 40 odd years ago except what worked for Fiorucci does NOT work at Dior. These are clothes that make you cringe that they carry the same name as the designer of the Bar jacket or the elegance that sustained the brand with the designs of Marc Bohan or the brilliance of John Galliano and then there is this pile of rehashed junk with the old logo

This is “Goodwill Hunting” in the truest sense of the word! I find it offensive to the viewer and frankly embarrassing for the brand! It’s rather pathetic when a designer gets lost in their own bullshit.
