There is more than Latin heritage that connects Herrera and de la Renta in their collections…well we know Oscar has passed but his imprimatur is most
definitely felt in his collection as are Carolina's signature looks in hers.

First we speak of Herrera, who despite her original moniker
of “our lady of the sleeves:” has come a long way toward sophisticated and
sometimes uber chic dressing despite a few bumps in the road. She may be formally stepping back but to any
dedicated fashion observer this only means that she is doing so in a public and
formal way as it has been obvious that she herself has not designed this
collection for many years.

This collection hits the right notes for women of multiple
ages but to my eye that below the knee length is one of the most unflattering
and distracting lengths on practically every woman including Melania Strumpet who only thinks
she looks good in it but then again she also thinks she looks good wearing a
belt.

The collection ranged from the uber slick and clean to the
over the top Norell-esque novelty coats and otherwise inspired pieces. . The
color palette was a welcome explosion and antidote to the usual gray black drab
of fall collections that permeate the season. There were great dresses, a
questionable print that looked like Gino’s wallpaper and a finale parade of
Carolina memes but not one of them wore her signature look with as much soigné, presence
and sprezzatura as she does…. Little girls in grown up clothes

In the end…pretty … yes … memorable … no …. But surely nothing to be ashamed of as a sort
of swan song.
