the epic fail or fall of Pucci

When Peter Dundas was appointed as creative director/ head
designer, I was a bit doubtful given his resume. In due time Dundas created a ...
or... let’s say reimagined the brand and
gave it a new sexiness or maybe A bit of euro trashy hotness but nevertheless
he made it stand for something. He massaged the DNA and gave it his imprimatur with
his own extra flourished but now …. NOW … OMG!

What was once I am afraid will never be again... there is no
chic no sexiness no allure no grace nothing but heavy handed unappealing
clothes that reminded me of “house coats” my mother wore when she arose in the morning
before she dressed for the day. The supposed extrapolation of Pucci prints is a
horror show, sort of like a funhouse mirror. What strikes me so often at these
heritage brands is why the “brass” insists on fixing what’s not broken? No, the
brand will never be a power house like Dior or Gucci or Armani so why destroy
it and put in the hands of someone what obviously hasn’t the vaguest idea of
what the brand stood for.

Honestly, there is just nothing appealing about this
collection and if anything it reminds me many times of what a rump roast might
look like it wrapped in patterned tin foil
