What I find
most troubling about this collection is what would have and what should have
been beautiful and slick wasn’t! The question is who do I point a finger at ...
a stylist or the designer?

The clothes
with their precise tailoring some beautiful dresses spoiled by puddling pants,
bad choice of lengths (napkin sleeves included), certainly and shoes and most
of all experiments gone awry. In essence the polish that was Carolina is not
here ... but it is almost here and there lies the problem … ALMOST!

The white
laces and dresses are unnecessary for fall but the double faces and suitings
beautiful in lush colorations are a welcome sight.

Even some of
the more “forward” design flourishes seemed to work and then there were some
that should have been left in the sample room. My question is can a buyer see
through the minor flaws... if in fact there is still a buyer who selects or
will the overall sales suffer from how the clothes are shown as put together
looks.

While on the
subject of flaws ... let’s talk about casting and some make up would have been
nice as well as some well thought out hair… these young girls come off as
escapees from the nunnery.

It’s a
conundrum amongst designers apparently that they can’t see that these mid-calf
lengths are totally unflattering on most of the retail clients and that women
don’t want to look like they are standing in a hole. Business is tough enough
as it is so why complicate it with these misjudgments just to satisfy a designing
ego.
