Anyone who reads my reviews knows that I am all about who
wears this stuff and salability and appeal. Well, today it is who cares? Rousteing
is a designer. The clothes are impactful. The clothes are actually a collection
and not some random assemblage of clothes. He actually makes a statement
without any blah blah blah ... no explanation needed. He takes you on a journey
... fantastical and over the top as it may be.

That being said, my peeves with the collection are few; one
of them being those dropped crotch pants and the other is that some editing
might have benefited the overall presentation. I’m done so moving along let’s
get to it…

There are few jackets shapes that weren’t covered whether
they be standard bombers, pea coats, tail coats, waiters jackets, military wear
or matador jackets, yes Rousteing is the king or prince of bullion, braid and
brass buttons but it’s not whim, it is part of his reimagined Balmain. The Chanel
quilting, the plaids, the velvets, the cummerbunds, the leathers, the belted
jackets were part of literally a cavalcade of clothes. As for who wears it... well
it’ll be great fodder for the next H&M collection but hell it’s a lot more
exciting than watching shows that are deeply esoterically inspirational and yet
one is forced to think when will it end.

If I had to say there was an influence I would have to say it’s
somewhere between 18th century and Michael Jackson but it surely
wasn’t boring. Buried under the jackets and coats were cowls and surplice tops
with asymmetrical closures and damn the clothes were sexy, chic at times and
riche. To that end, please take note that the casting here was not nubile but
rather young men who looked like men. If there was any sort of gender bending
it was in the clothes not the person wearing them and for that alone Rousteing
gets a gold star.

So for that rarity I say who cares if it sells... we got
entertainment and fashion as it is intended and NEEDED!
