A close friend queried… How
boring the world would be if we only saw "pretty clothes"… at this
juncture in the fashion compendium, pretty clothes are welcomed sights after
the travesties of New York and the absurdities of London and lest us forget the
insane rambling collection of that faux designer, faux intellectual AM at
Gucci.

Decades ago, I was told that the
best Italian sportswear came from Max Mara and well aside from the virtual
absence of sportswear, Max Mara certainly delivers on that decades old statement.
Yes the world would be boring if pretty was the only adjective we could affix
to collections but ponder this for a moment… when and where was the last time
you saw beautiful clothes on beautiful women who were impeccably groomed and
accessorized walking down a runway.

Then of course you must consider
that these clothes are actually wearable, chic, slick and urbane… quel horreur…no
latest and greatest, no esoterica to prepare
you or explain the presentation .. these
are unabashedly pretty clothes… yes, yes
I know some will say my god you are so boring and so are the clothes ... call me what you will but what I see are
clothes that women will actually want and wear. These are city clothes or if
dissected, they are country clothes but no matter as they are classy, tasteful
and timeless. Ill take some boring and pretty when faced with trying to “unsee”
the folly that has come before !

Consider these as simple clothes
for confident women who don’t want to look like Halloween, a fashion victim or
some thrift store reject.
