While not a
dyed in the wool fan of Dries, what cannot be ignored is that his devotion and adherence
to his brand coupled to his vision is undeniable and unwavering. This was a show that
was epic in its size, scope, possibilities and statement. If you are not a fan of
prints then I suggest you stop reading now!

What continues
to amaze me after all these years and when a certain trend may arise such as scarf
prints and scarves with Dries as well as on other runways. I guess it just comes to you in a vision and
those visions are only reserved for the most discerning. Of course, there is
nothing ordinary about any of his collections but this one struck a note with
me much more so than others.

The prints
of course are somewhat retro in feeling yet there is nothing retro about the
collection. The lightness, the ease, the transparencies, the embellishments,
the palette, the tailoring, the draping, the fabrications and this list can go on
but it is all quite beautiful in its artistry. Keep in mind that Dries is an acquired
taste which this season seems to stretch beyond his normal seasonal
evolutionary fashion. Oh yeah then there is this one thing.. it is designed!

Like it or
not the polish, treatments, silhouettes, and slickness of the collection are
far more appealing than the most lauded of brands but then again Dries is not
beholden to any money machine that owns him. This is his way and his way only.
