Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim seem to do what so many others fail or are incapable of doing when taking the reins of a heritage brand. To say it simply, does this look like the Oscar I know? … Not really, but I can see the essence of the past evolved into the present while adding their own take on the brand. They have absolutely not thrown out their past clientele in search of the younger generation but instead they address multiple generations of Oscar ladies.

Okay, so they got a little fringe happy and they got a little carried away with sexy but hell… there are plenty of beautiful clothes for plenty of ladies of all ages with all different ideas of how to look fashionable. I can’t say they are old souls, as they are certainly young designers who display their more advanced designs under their own label but they actually understand what the brand Oscar de la Renta is and was all about and that my friends is what is missing with the likes of a Wes Gordon who delusionally stated he was thinking of Mrs. Herrera when he designed that collection … sadly he must have been thinking or Magdalena Herrera and not Carolina Herrera.

With the current state of fashion especially during NYFW, I can unashamedly say BRAVO to these designers who delivered a collection that is worthy of NYFW if not lead the pack of a herd of known and unknown designers who will have evaporated by next season in search of more meaningless clothes with no audience beyond Instagram.
