“Above the curve; drawing inspiration from the space age
60s, the collection flirts with geometry and curved lines.” These are the words
that the designer used when describing his current spring collection for 2017.

We all know I am not
much on designer inspirations BUT here we have a designer whose words actually
match the collection and indeed here we have a rarity. To compound this
phenomenon we have a collection of exquisitely rendered clothes that are
wearable, ageless, and chic and take into consideration that not every consumer
is under 30. In other words we have clothes that are cross generationally
appealing! How’s that for a statement?

Michail works mostly in silk crepe but also offers select pieces
in jersey, satin backed crepe as well as georgette. What I find so attractive
is the designer takes a bit of the past, not just the 60s, and gives it a very
modern day twist. The clothes need no instruction manual, no romance card; they
just need a woman who is confident and dresses where trend leaves off and that would
be in timeless unstuffy clothes. By the way, he also does not show a collection
that is based on black dresses rather he shows a collection with the most deliciously
soft sherbet palette and then accents with navy rather than black.

Make sure to take note of the near perfect workmanship and
finishing as each piece could easily be mistaken for much more than mere ready
to wear. In my personal fashion history and experience we might have said that
these are the clothes that make registers sing! Got it? Get it!
