While so many designers are busy espousing their so called
“modern fashion” design philosophies, which usually have nothing to do with the
clothes, Josep Font delivers one of the most modern and breathtaking spectacles
of fashion and with no necessary or
supposedly thought provoking high minded inspirations verbalized or written.

What makes it all the more amazing is that so much of what
Delpozo stands for is “hard tailoring and edges” and yet these clothes appear
to be feather weight with the softness of chiffon despite their volumes... making sense? The
fabrications, the colorations, the details and the silhouettes all work to the
end result of truly modern impeccably DESIGNED and well thought out clothes
that have a point of view and adhere to the brand’s signature. These people
(Delpozo) are not shopping for a new client base each season; they do what
they do and they stick to it much in the vein of how Thom Browne sets forth his
signatures each season.

Now, don’t think for
a minute that I believe these are easy clothes to wear or sell but they
MUST be evaluated on so much more than just selling… now I have gone against
almost every review I have ever written
but this is a stand-alone collection that has no peer ... certainly not in
terms of American fashion. I can see influence from the namesake designer as
well as Balenciaga, Capucci and even Stephane Rolland but it is all good....
none of that matters in the least. It is just what registers in my head when I
see this.

It is a divine moment when designers actually design and
evolve and get better and better with each season... K U D O S!!!!!
