Miguel
Vieira is a man of the cloth; no silly goose not a priest but a designer who
shows a huge fascination with fabric. His use of pique, ottoman, faille,
embossed jacquarded and printed cotton is just pitch perfect for the season.
There was no question in my mind that this was not a dyed it the wool American
designer as upon watching this show you become acutely aware of a different sensibility.
These are not clothes that trend towards what so many American designers are
doing and think is of the moment.

Besides all
of this , there is the fact that this man pays attention, the matching of the
patterns, the seaming, the silhouettes and the palette are all targeted to real
people, people who love fashion and love well designed, well made and clothes
that you don’t see on every Tom, Dick or Harriet. By the way, in case you
haven’t noticed, Mr. Vieira does collections for men and women plus a plethora of
other categories.

My biggest
regret here is that I was unable to really touch these clothes as there was
such an amazing tactile quality to them even just by looking at them. I am
hoping that he returns to the states again very soon as his brand has piqued my
interest to the point of wanting more.

Hopefully
when he does return, not only will I be able to touch the clothes but have a
chat with the designer who clearly knows his way around a bolt and some scissors.
