Apparently Donatellamamamia has a large design studio and
each dedicated group of designers was given the spotlight in this collection.
To say that this is an odd collection is like saying la Signora is a natural
beauty.

Perhaps it is the styling, perhaps it is the proportion,
perhaps it is the been there done that aura or maybe some of it is just plain
bad fashion.

I thought we passed the era of tee shirts under strapless
tops and dresses but apparently not at casa Versace, so the Versace signature
tailoring may be present and accounted for but alas look at how it was
represented…. Scary no? The supposedly
sexy leathers look a tad overworked, heavy handed and perhaps clumsy.

Let move on to the supposed “archival” segment which in a
moment of understatement might be seen as cacophonous. More is better has
always been a part of the brand except Donatellamamamia takes it to new heights
with the over patterned, over mixed dizzying
combinations and the extrapolations from Gianni’s archive. Un poco moderazione might have served
the collection better than the over the top blinding combinations.

What i found most appealing were the brightly colored knits which looked
alarmingly fresh for this brand as well and the much simpler dresses with a minimum of logomnia. What was also most appealing were the handbags which while
the fringed ones might have been a bit “referenced” were especially appealing
as well as the quilted possibilities.

What I will never understand are the rapper denims, the clunky shoes and her need to think she does the brand any
service by consistently pushing those concepts. By far this was not her worst
outing but hardly award winning.
