Versace Spring 2016 MFW

Somewhere I read that “Donatella ... You killed it with that show!” well! Indeed she did kill it … again and again and what she killed was already dead and we know the weapon. WTF is Donatellamommamia thinking; it is almost likes she fades in and out of the effects of her meds.

So, it starts out on a great note, with the display of military influences and hard tailoring. Bravo! Then somehow Signora has created a pattern that shall be named “camopard”… get it? Yes, doesn’t take a rocket scientist! Alas, things get out of hand very quickly with these patchwork numbers which show off the abilities and prowess of the production team but little of the design team. In essence, you get wildly expensive, over the top... well ... I’m not sure what you call it! Somewhere in the mess is these 2 red python pieces which are arresting in their simplicity and superb rendering. Oh did I forget to mention the band aid/scotch tape bandeaus?

Next up is, at lack of a better moniker or classification … evening! To my eyes these are tortured, overworked numbers suitable for what? Where do you wear these? The full extent of one’s business cannot be measured by the red carpet and giveaways to rock stars because if it is, well then, that IPO trots off into the distance sooner than later. Hype aint gonna make it happen. Within this conglomeration of “stuff’ is a few pieces which are actually quite well done and wearable and seemingly out of place within the progression of the show. The camel color suit with frayed edges and the brown swirl print dress give hope but not enough to this over the top “stew” of a collection.

The collection in general would benefit from some editing as well as a more logical presentation meaning show the clothes by classification not by this seemingly haphazard order of who knows what and girl get a freakin grip on reality. So much of what we see tips the scales at the 10 grand mark and why and what for? There are other designers who do it better and with far more élan.

Povero Gianni is all I can say!

P.S. I  didn’t use the words Russian, hooker or the term love for sale!... and I didn’t make fun of those fugly shoes!
